Community Support Agriculture Opportunity in West Pasco

Friendship Farms & Fare (established in 2010) is pleased to share the good news of its Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program. A limited number of shares are now available.

Produce from Friendship Farms is of the highest quality, and weekly shares are fresh-harvested no later than the evening before your pickup. We use only organic, permaculture methods. We start our plants from our own seeds (saved from previous seasons) or certified organic seed from organizations committed to sustainable agriculture (and whenever possible heirloom seeds).

If you are interested in improving your diet, eating locally-grown produce every week, knowing where your food comes from, and participating in a sustainable agrarian project, this CSA may be just what you are looking for.

Like most CSAs, this one is based on a share system, in which shares of an agricultural venture are offered to supporters for an annual fee. Shareholders support the farmer(s) in the CSA, with each share entitling shareholders to an equal portion of the venture’s production, however small or large that may be. Although Florida CSAs take a recess from late spring until the fall, ours operates year round (with two weeks off for farmer holidays).

Friendship Farms & Fare is unique in that it is a small-scale boutique CSA, involving few participants, and using very basic management techniques. Cost of a share is low by typical CSA standards. Donations are also gratefully received (we are a 501 C 3 organization), with all donations going to maintenance and improvement of the gardens and groves.

Partial shares are available for half-years, and shorter periods can be considered.

Despite our small size, shareholders may expect good quantities of select fruits and seasonal vegetables every week (e.g., broccoli, kale, collards, loquats, sweet potatoes, okra, eggplant, and assorted herbs). In addition, and depending on environmental conditions, we supply shareholders with small but regular quantities of other types of produce in specific growing seasons (e.g., tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, various herbs, plums, and peaches).
