Presents: Annual Farm and Produce Festival

New Port Richey FarmNet presents the New Year's Farm & Produce Festival: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at West Pasco Habitat for Humanity Farm and Market site - 4131 Madison St., New Port Richey.

The Annual Farm and Produce Festival will feature:

cool weather produce

local honey

local homemade preserves

bedding plants for cool weather produce

gardening materials

organic and heirloom seeds

locally grown vegetable seedlings

locally grown loquat fruit trees

opportunities to acquire a plot at Grand Gardens

planting pots, cells, and trays

promotional t-shirts for local agriculture projects

published booklets about loquats and okra

All produce is from local organic farms and gardens, featuring cool weather crops: collards, kales, swiss chard, and arugula – among others. Organizers are expecting broccoli, but cannot guarantee it. Tours and of Habitat for Humanity gardens will be offered and a program about FarmNet and New Port Richey's growing urban agriculture project will be presented.

Presentations by: Sylvia Spencer, Grand Gardens facilitator; Jake Pieterse, COO West Pasco Habitat for Humanity; and Dell deChant, USF Religious Studies Department Associate Chair and Friendship Farms curator. The program will also include details about the FarmNet market and future plans by market director, Anne Short

At the conclusion of the Festival, at 1:00 p.m., those who are interested will be directed to near-by Grand Gardens for a tour and opportunity to acquire a plot at New Port Richey's oldest and largest community garden. Tours and plot selection are from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.

There is no charge to attend and donations will be gratefully received, with 100% of all donations going to FarmNet programming.
